This Online Laser Training distance-learning course is a BMLA approved and MHRA recommended ‘Core of Knowledge’ (CoK) training module to provide you with a fundamental understanding of laser and light technology, how light interacts with skin to produce specific biological effects and how to use laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) safely.
It also covers relevant standards and regulations governing their use in a professional setting in different jurisdictions.
It is a legal obligation in some UK jurisdictions (Wales & N.I.) that a ‘Core of Knowledge’ course from a recognised or approved trainer is provided as a requirement of registration and/or licencing.
The training program will be provided for you to study the course materials in detail (i.e. workbooks) and complete the online multiple-choice assessments at the end of each section.
The learning outcome is an independently accredited, nationally recognised, Level 4 Award to the named student.
This online course is worth 30 CPD learning credits (which is equivalent to a notional 30 hours of learning).
Typically, the course takes 2-3 days to complete, with a maximum duration of 28 days.
This level 4 course is exclusively for UK regulations & jurisdictions.

All people enrolled in courses provided by Online Laser Training must be proficient in spoken and written English, comprehension and expression, with particular emphasis on reading ability. These courses include technical instructions, advice and recommendations. The ability to understand and follow these will be crucial to a successful completion of the courses.
If English is not a first language, then there is an expectation that learners have at absolute minimum, passes in reading ability from the language programmes listed below, or equivalent, in order to successfully undertake these courses:

All people enrolled in courses provided by Online Laser Training must have a minimum of three GCSEs grade 9-3 (to include English and Maths GCSE or Functional Skills at L1/L2 equivalent to NVQ Level 2, BTEC/UALL Level 2 Diploma or Intermediate Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification(s) recognised by UK NARIC.
These courses include technical instructions, advice and recommendations. The ability to understand and follow these will be crucial to a successful completion of the courses and fitness to practice autonomously as a laser therapist and be responsible for safe, person-centred care.
